Shameem Koshy graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Conflict Resolution Studies, before attending Law School at the University of Manitoba. She completed her articles at Legal Aid Manitoba and was called to the Bar in 2004. That same year, she joined Legal Aid’s Child Protection Law Office, where she dedicated 13 years to representing primarily Indigenous clients in Child Protection proceedings in the Court of Queen’s Bench (as it then was). As a Staff Attorney and later as a Supervising Attorney, her involvement in high-conflict cases over the last 20 years has equipped her with significant experience in resolving disputes in and outside the courtroom.

In addition to her work in Child Protection Law, Shameem practices in Labour and Employment, providing legal advice and conducting hearings and adjudications for various employers. She enjoys collaborating closely with organizations to identify and address workplace issues, creating strategies and practices that meet their needs.

Shameem is deeply committed to understanding and responding to her clients' needs. She ensures that their issues and concerns are addressed with the utmost care, reflecting her dedication and professionalism.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, she has travelled and lived in different countries, gaining a unique perspective that fuels her passion for people in her practice. Outside of work, Shameem enjoys watching football and supporting the diverse array of small businesses in Winnipeg.
