At Cochrane Sinclair, we’re proud to celebrate excellence not just in the courtroom but also in the community. Our very own Kate Cameron has achieved an extraordinary milestone, leading her team to victory at the Manitoba Women’s Provincial Curling Championship and earning her first-ever Buffalo Jacket as skip!
As skip of Team Cameron, Kate guided her rink—featuring Taylor McDonald, Allison Flaxey, and Mackenzie Elias—to a dramatic 7-6 victory over Beth Peterson’s team at the Pilot Mound Millennium Recreation Complex. This victory not only crowns Kate as one of Manitoba’s top curlers but also secures her team’s spot at the national championship in Thunder Bay this February.
Reflecting on this achievement, Kate shared her journey with The Free Press:"
Winning my first one still seems surreal many years ago, and I think to be able to win other provincials along the way and then now as a skip, if you would have told me that 10 years ago, I wouldn’t have ever believed it."
Kate’s focus and calm under pressure were key to her team’s success, including a perfectly executed final shot that secured the championship. As The Free Press noted:
"Cameron couldn’t have asked for a more routine shot… simply needed to peel off the yellow stone for the win, which she did without trouble."
A Champion On and Off the Ice
While Kate shines as a curling champion, her contributions at Cochrane Sinclair are equally impressive. With over 12 years of experience in Child Protection Law, Kate is a highly skilled and compassionate paralegal who plays a critical role in safeguarding the most vulnerable members of our community.
Kate works tirelessly to navigate the complexities of Child Protection Law, providing exceptional support to families and children during their most challenging times. Her dedication and leadership are valued by colleagues and clients alike, making her an integral part of the Cochrane Sinclair team.
Her commitment to excellence—whether in the courtroom or on the curling sheet—is a testament to her character, drive, and ability to lead under pressure.
