A Legal mind built on excellence
Alexys earned her Bachelor of Laws from Queen's University Belfast, graduating with first class honours and placing first overall in her cohort. She was awarded the Law Society Prize, given to the top student in her class.
She also completed a judicial externship at the Superior Court of Ontario, working alongside the Honourable Justice Harper. Her experience in litigation, public interest work, and complex legal reasoning continues to shape her approach today.
As a Co-founder of the Transatlantic Negotiation Competition, Alexys helped build a platform for international legal collaboration that encourages leadership, teamwork, and cross-border advocacy.
A Growing voice in Indigenous law and policy
Before joining Cochrane Sinclair, Alexys worked in Indigenous governance, gaining experience in employment law, policy analysis, and internal governance structures.
In 2024, she co-authored a widely read article in Law360 Canada, alongside senior counsel Nick Leeson, advocating for Indigenous-led fire stewardship as a solution to Canada’s growing wildfire crisis. The piece explored the impact of colonial fire suppression and highlighted the role of traditional knowledge in land management today.
