Cochrane Sinclair is pleased to announce that Max Faille and Robert C. Freedman have been recognized in the 2027 edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada™.

Both lawyers have been recognized in Vancouver, British Columbia, for their work in Aboriginal Law / Indigenous Practice. Max has also been recognized in Administrative and Public Law.

The Best Lawyers selection process is based on peer review. Lawyers are evaluated by members of the profession practising within the same geographic region and area of law, making inclusion a reflection of the professional regard they have earned among their peers.

Max Faille

Max has been recognized in the following practice areas:

  • Aboriginal Law / Indigenous Practice
  • Administrative and Public Law

Max has dedicated much of his career to advancing the rights, interests and priorities of Indigenous Nations, governments and organizations.

His practice encompasses a broad range of Indigenous and public law matters, including Aboriginal and treaty rights, the Crown’s duty to consult and accommodate, governance, negotiations, administrative decision-making and the relationship between Indigenous Peoples and the Crown.

His recognition across two practice areas reflects the interconnected nature of this work. Indigenous legal matters frequently engage not only questions of rights and title, but also the decisions, policies and processes of governments, regulatory bodies and other public institutions.

Through his work, Max helps clients navigate these complex legal and institutional environments while pursuing practical outcomes that support their communities and long-term objectives.

Robert C. Freedman

Robert has been recognized in:

  • Aboriginal Law / Indigenous Practice

Robert has extensive experience advising First Nations, Indigenous governments and organizations on complex legal, governance and strategic matters.

His work includes supporting clients as they navigate questions involving Indigenous rights, governance, negotiations and relationships with governments and other parties. He brings a thoughtful and practical approach to matters that often involve significant legal, political and community considerations.

Robert’s recognition in Aboriginal Law / Indigenous Practice reflects his longstanding work alongside Indigenous clients and the trust he has developed through that work.

Peer-Reviewed Recognition

The Best Lawyers in Canada™ recognizes lawyers across the country based on feedback from their professional peers. Its methodology is intended to capture the opinions of lawyers regarding the abilities of colleagues working in the same legal practice areas and geographic markets.

Recognition in the 2027 edition reflects the individual professional contributions of Max and Robert, as well as their continued commitment to providing experienced and strategic legal counsel to Indigenous clients.

Their inclusion also highlights the strength of Cochrane Sinclair’s Indigenous law practice and the depth of experience available to the Nations, governments, organizations and businesses the firm serves.

We congratulate Max and Robert on this well-deserved recognition.
